04 Aug How Spirit Connects with Us

Have you ever found a heart-shaped rock and thought of your Mom in Spirit? Or has a song come on the radio that takes you back to your first date? Spirits connect with people through the senses (clairs), and through physical evidence such as pennies, cardinals, butterflies, songs, electrical issues, and certain symbols specific to the individual. One client described an orchid that continued to bloom four months after her grandmother’s passing—she felt it was her grandmother’s way of saying “I’m still here.” Spirit connects to us through animals, and out of the mouths of children too.
"God communicates with us by way of all things. They are messages of love." - Ernesto Cardenal
As a psychic medium, I connect with Spirit intentionally to share a message of love, strength, and hope to clients. I pull from different psychic disciplines and all of my senses when trying to communicate a message from Spirit. Blending with Spirit, asking a deceased loved one to merge with my energy and show me what their life was like from their perspective—what they saw, how they felt, what it was like to be them, what they want to say, what they have learned—is my main strategy. My voice doesn’t change, and I experience myself as myself, while simultaneously getting a peak into the deceased Soul’s life while they were on Earth, and as they are now in the Celestial realms.
Once a session is booked, often their deceased loved ones will show up early—I’ll hear an inner knocking in my sleep, I’ll wake up and smell coffee or flowers when no one is here, the electricity will go out, a phone that is not connected to electricity will ring. I’ll have a knowing of who is there and how they passed, etc.
During a session it is common to have more than one Soul come sit at the table with us. If there are many Souls, sometimes blending occurs and I work to separate the energies so that everyone has an opportunity to speak. I receive the information clairvoyantly—much like I’m remembering a movie I watched a long time ago.
When the need to convey a message is very strong, Spirit will initiate a conversation with me even when no one has booked an appointment. When Spirit arrives ‘off schedule’—I’m always amazed at the type of healing that can be done in chance encounters as the day unfolds. It’s such a gift.
Spirit shows me who is in need of a message in group settings differently than during individual sessions.. When I’m in a large group, a white light will surround the person in need like a fog, which is my cue to inquire if they are open to receiving a message from a loved one.
For example, I was reading tarot cards for a friend at a restaurant when the owner came over and asked what we were doing. I politely hoped I hadn’t offended him and offered to put the cards away. He showed curiosity and asked more about my business as a psychic medium. At that moment, a man stepped forward on my right. “If you’re open to a reading, I would love to assist you.” He was open. I said, “That’s good to hear, as there’s a man your equal standing next to you. You would know him by John and he’s showing me he’s passed of cancer.” The restaurateur burst into tears—in fact his husband John of twenty years had passed of cancer. A simple innocent moment in time, connecting with a hurting Soul, provided so much healing. He let go of the deep, heavy emotional bags he’d been carrying, and was able to move forward with his life, without the grief that had been weighing him down.
Whether a Spirit is connecting with an everyday person, or with a medium, there is an opportunity to have a healing moment for souls on both sides. Now that we have some examples of the how, let’s look at the why.
